20. "Holly Christmas Night" Carol Festival

The inter-county carol festival-competition "Holly Christmas Night" is an annual cultural event of reference for the community of Vorona and for the entire Botoșani county, being dedicated to preserving, promoting and transmitting authentic traditions related to the Nativity of the Lord. Held every year in mid-December, on the eve of the winter holidays, the festival transforms the "Mihai Eminescu" Cultural Center in Vorona into a vibrant space of Romanian spirituality and folklore.

The event brings together hundreds of participants, especially children, young people and vocal groups from various educational institutions and parishes in Botoșani County and neighboring regions. Organized through the joint efforts of the Vorona City Hall, the “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” Technological High School and the local Cultural Center, the festival is structured as a competition. It includes sections dedicated to musical interpretation (traditional carols performed vocally, a cappella or with accompaniment) and sections of plastic or literary creation, where students express their artistic vision of the winter holidays through drawings, paintings or greeting cards.

Beyond its competitive component, "Holly Christmas Night"  has a strong identity role. The festival manages to bring to the attention of the public old carols, some of them collected directly from rural communities and saved from oblivion, being interpreted in traditional folk costumes specific to the Moldavian area. Through the atmosphere full of emotion, warmth and respect for ancestral values, the event contributes to educating the younger generation in the spirit of respect for folklore and transforms the commune of Vorona into a central point on the map of winter events in the north of the country.
